Create Instant Furniture When Staging A Home

6 Quick Tips on How to Create Instant Furniture!

When decorating or staging a home it can get expensive to go out and purchase new furniture or figure out how to organize and free up the living spaces in a home.  Who wants to have to rent furnishings and decor and worry about delivery mishaps and excess fees.  Find out how to create instant furniture from everyday household decorative items.  Here are 6 Quick Tips on How to Create Instant Furniture…

1.) Make an old-fashioned pipe radiator disappear !  Just purchase a long, skinny slab of marble or several 12 inch square stone or ceramic tiles and lay them on top.  They will withstand the heat and become a Tabletop space or the perfect Shelf in a room.

2.)  Need an End Table next to a couch or chair? No problem.  Stack up 3 or 4 similar antique suitcases  or square boxlike baskets to create a low side table.  Some books and a drink will have a place to rest and instant storage for linens or other can now be hidden especially when staging a home for sale.

3.) Bedside Tables are as easy as mounting a wide shelf on the wall on each side of a bed!  Place a grouping of baskets or various size vases underneath for a decorative touch.  Also, a simple chair with a flat seat can act as a bedside table and fit a stack of books and a lamp no problem.

4.) A shabby chic bench from a second hand store makes for a great Coffee Table!  We also suggest an antique trunk or even 2 short decorative urns with a piece of thick glass layed on top.  Any of these items are budget friendly when staging a home for sale and will really help complete the look of a living space that may be short of appropriate furnishings.

5.) Create a living room Side Table to place next to a couch by simply stacking a bunch of large coffee table size books on top of a plant dolly/stand outfitted with casters.  Not only is it mobile but can be a unique piece that will add some color to a room as well.  Short counter height stools or pretty tray tables can also act as great side tables one on each side of a couch and are inexpensive!

6.) Cover up not so pretty furniture like breakfast tables, side tables or coffee tables with linens or tapestry dressings.   We find that rug runners make a fabulous table runner for a dining room table  and can be folded in half for a smaller breakfast table that may have more than its share of nicks and scratches on the surface.  A large tapestry or needlepoint rug layed over top of a not so desireable coffee table can add instant color while still looking chic!

There are no rules when it comes to staging or decorating your home.  Make use of those everyday items to spruce up unattractive furnishings.  These tips will help create unique storage in a living space as well as a necessary piece of furniture to complete the look of a room in no time.  Have fun and get creative!
