What is the 2012 Top Color for Home Staging?

The Color of the Year for 2012 is Tangerine Tango!

The color orange is the new torquoise this year.  Orange is a vivacious yet friendly and warm color.  It gets noticed and encourages happiness especially when used against a neutral painted wall.  Orange is a color that can be used in traditional home staging or virtual home staging because it is safe when used properly and won’t overpower a room.  Here are 5 ways to incorporate the color orange into living spaces when staging a home for sale!

1.) White bedding is clean and crisp and ideal for staging a bedroom in a home with dark hardwood flooring.  Add a few orange printed pillows or a solid color orange throw on the bed for some pop and instantly the room will come alive and attract a buyers attention.

2.) Cream or pastel color furnishings are perfect neutral color backdrops for orange accent pillows.  This will spice up any living space whether the home is a traditional or a modern style.  Orange is a safe a color because it is so flexible which is perfect for home staging.

3.) Use orange themed decorative items in a space with moderation.  Keep your walls neutral and use orange only in your fabrics and decorative accessories.  Don’t repeat the color too much in a room or else a living area could become too matchy, matchy and overwhelming to a buyer.

4.) Pairing orange colored decor items with cooler colors like greens and blues are appropriate color combinations for home staging that make a space feel more youthful and not dated.  Keep orange tones mild and not shockingly bright which can be distracting.

5.) Mix orange with earthy colors like chocolate browns, taupes and golds for a warm environment which is inviting for potential home buyers.

Orange can be a powerful color but don’t be afraid to use it throught all the living spaces of a home.  It works well in a sunroom, family room and even in the kids bedrooms!  When staging a home be sure to use the color in moderation to add some color and warmth to a bland room that may be too neutral or white.  We find the best places to shop and start looking for bright orange decorative items like pillows, vases, rugs and the like is Z Gallerie, HomeGoods, CB2, IKEA and Pier 1 to name a few.

What Our Clients Say

“Your virtual staging product is sensational! The efficiency condo I had listed was in a community of 60+ units for sale and had no offers.  After posting the 3 virtually staged photos of my unit, I got an offer within 5 days and beat out all the competing units listed in the same price range.  Thanks for a great job!”
