Helpful Hints to Prep Your Home for Summer
With summer just around the corner, there’s no better time to start planning how you will transition your home decor. Here are some helpful hints as you prep your home for summer.
Revamp the Fireplace: While in winter your fireplace is a meeting place for all things warm and cozy, it is often neglected in the warmer months. Spice up your fireplace for summer with a mirror and candles or bold vases. Play around with colors and textures until you find just the right fit.
Make it Fabric: Instead of traditional canvas art or heavy mirrors, try fabric-covered artwork above your mantel. The stretched fabric is bold and hang-worthy with just a few staples on the back. The array of fabrics available in stores and online makes it easy for you to customize your look.
Colorful Lighting: Lighten up your space by swapping out traditional lamps for fixtures that are clear, tinted, or bold. You can even purchase lamp wiring kits so you can add a fixture of your own to create a truly one-of-a-kind look.
Update your Shower Curtain: Changing your shower curtain each season can be a pain. Top designers recommend installing Velcro tabs to your liners so you can easily swap out your curtain. For summer, choose a bold, patterned, or colorful curtain.
Let the Outside In (well some of it): You can bring the light and sounds of outside in without the bugs by hanging a ribbon curtain. Alternate colors for a playful splash that will flutter in the wind and draw the eye to windows or doors.
