5 Home Staging Tips for the Holidays

Selling a home during the holidays can be a challenge. We suggest at this time of year to keep it simple by displaying non-religious holiday decorations and avoid overdecorating the home with too many festive chachkis. Keep in mind that home staging involves creating a warm and inviting environment to potential buyers. Staying prepared to show your home and balancing the need to retain some semblance of holiday traditions is not easy but here are 5 Home Staging Ideas When Selling A Home During the Holidays…
1.) Light the Fireplace. Show off the features of a home by lighting the fireplace during an open house. When virtual staging photos in the fall and winter, we create a well-lit fire in the fireplace to promote that “cozy” feeling in living spaces that an otherwise empty room wouldn’t capture.
2.) Update Outdoor Lighting. Days are shorter and buyers may be viewing the home at night. Be sure all outdoor lights are functioning and light up walkways and front doors so the home feels inviting. Don’t overdo it on the stringy lights. Place lights that emphasize the architecture of the home or on the pretty tree in the front yard.
3.) Scents. We suggest a light winter scented fragrance can be placed in the homebut dont overdo it! Of course throwing in a batch of cookies in the oven or making some apple cider a few hours before potential buyer arrive doesn’t hurt either!
4.) Home Staging with Decor. Create reading nooks in the living room or bedroom with a chair and basket of books or magazines. Home Staging living spaces with blankets over the couch or on the beds is also suggested. Avoid putting a holiday tree in every room of the home as one in the living room is enough.
5.) Decorate Front Door. The first impressions are the most important! Place a simple holiday wreath on the front door and try to refrain from oversize or numerous yard decorations – keep it simple. Even a holiday arrangement in the entryway can be welcoming and instill positive feelings in a potential buyer and that’s what it’s all about!
