Home Staging Tips For the Attic

Staging the Attic For A Better Impression

Home staging always entails staging the main living areas in a home  with furniture, artwork and attractive decor.  But staging can go a step further into the attic or basement which may be an unused space.  Buyers viewing a home want to see its full potential.  Here are some Tips when it comes to Staging the Attic.

De-clutter and Organize – Get rid of old possessions that are not of any use or interest.  Have a garage sale or get a tax deduction when making a donation – Get rid of it!  Purchase storage bins or shelving and stow items neatly out of the way to allow buyers to see that the attic can be a dry and spacious place to store belongings.

Clean Windows and Add Lighting –  Make sure the attic space is clean including windows inside and out so it doesn’t evoke a “haunted house” feeling when buyers walk into it.  Installing some wall sconce lighting or a lamp in a corner will help put buyers at ease before entering.

Create a Reading Nook.  Purchase bookcases and use that extra side table taking up space in the living room and move it to the attic.  Add a lamp, books neatly organized in bookcases and a comfortable chair and an instant warm and cozy reading nook emerges to show buyers the potential of the space.

Create a PlayRoom.  Use a small table and chairs or even stools, add wall hangings, stereo system, dart board and some board games to create an instant Play Room.

Create a Guest Bedroom.  If the attic is a finished space then show off to buyers that it can be an additional living space.  Whether its a twin bed or pull out couch, add a bedside table and lamp and transform the attic into an inviting guest bedroom or even a teenagers room.

Take advantage of unused areas like the attic to show of the potential of a home.  Buyers like to see a homes possibilities which can make it a key selling point in a home.  With a little cleaning and staging, these unique areas of a home can end up being the reason a buyer makes an offer!
