5 Home Staging Ideas For A Well-Organized Laundry Room

Why Buyers Crave A Staged Laundry Room

The kitchen is definately an important part of a home that needs to show its best for potential home buyers.  But let’s not forget the laundry room which is also an important space where many hours are spent each week.  Sellers may overlook this room.  It could be the one space that needs extra attention and needs to be transformed from the room that holds the water bottles, dog food and old cans of paint to a well organized laundry space!  Here are 5 Home Staging Ideas For A Laundry Room Buyers will Love

1.) De-Cluttering.  This is always the first order of business when staging any home for sale.  Consider the most important items that can be stored in this space: laundry detergent, household cleaners, iron, ironing board and of course dirty laundry.  So start removing everything that hasn’t been used in the past 6 months!

2.)  Clean & Clean Again.  Once all excess items have been removed, it may be time to give the washer and dryer a good wipe down.  Check behind these appliances as there could be a couple pairs of socks or other that have been missing for days and dust and excess detergent spills in odd places.  Be sure that your washer has proper drainage in case of leaks and don’t forget to neatly organize hoses out of sight!

3.) Paint.  It probably is not a bad idea to give the laundry room a fresh coat of paint and remove any murals, kids art project that made it on a wall or floral wallpaper prints that we have come across in our home staging jobs – they gotta go!

4.) Get Organized.  Now it’s time to transform this room and invest in storage items like labeled canvas bins and baskets.  A well organized home is one that buyers will appreciate as they are not interested in seeing detergent bottles and your collection of house cleaning products.

5.) Keep Up With The Laundry.  A nice size laundry bin that is closed works well to keep dirty laundry in an organized fashion.  Once again, buyers are not interested in seeing a pile of dirty clothes on the floor or ones waiting to be folded on top of the dryer.  Utilize good storage bins to keep the laundry room neat and in check!

A well-organized laundry room is a space that shouldn’t be overlooked when staging or virtual staging a home.  If there is enough space to add a rolling table for folding laundry or doing arts and crafts projects this is a definite enhancement.  The home is becoming more of a personal refuge and the laundry room may just be the next sanctuary for a feeling of order a buyer may fall in love with!
